World Island takes over Leeds for one night only.
Rarely does a line-up so glorious as that of this month’s World Island grace our city. From Jordan Rakei to Floating Points, the day incudes performances from a gorgeous variety of acts that’ve been tickling our musical taste buds over the last few months. Based in the Town Hall, a nineteenth century wonder-building, we’re struggling to think of a more exciting venue for the days’ events. The artists themselves have clearly decided to make the most of the eclectic acoustics too, with Romare performing a live set with his full band; rare amongst the festival circuit this year. If we were to compile a list of our dream dinner-party guests to summarise what we’ve been listening to over the last few months, we couldn’t get much closer to what World Island has to offer.
If this whole day of tunes wasn’t enough, World Island have secured free passes to their afterparties at Headrow House and Belgrave Music Hall for all ticket holders. Given that the day falls on bank holiday Sunday the 28thMay, there’s going to be no worries over those Monday blues.
We’re going to be doing a World Island special show this Saturday on Leeds Student Radio, guiding you through the aspects of the line-up that we’re most excited about and introducing you the acts that await.
Tune in to Leeds Student Radio at 4pm on Saturday 20th May.
