Last week, Anna and Jess spoke to Vicky Blake and Brendan Nicholls, representatives of the Universities and Colleges Union (UCU). The UCU is striking next week, over proposed changes to university statutes. They argue that the changes, which would introduce ‘some other substantial reason’ as a reason for dismissal, threaten academic freedom. The University argues that it is merely modernising procedures. A statement from the university is included at the end of the interview.
