Leeds Student Radio’s Gig Picks – Week beginning 28th November

Live and Local goes out at 8 on Saturday nights. You can find this weeks show here

Gengahr – Nation of Shopkeepers – Wednesday the 30th

James I don’t think that the singer understands what singing is if it’s not falsetto. I feel this would appeal to dogs, they can probably hear this pretty well.

Eloise Think dreamy surf rock with smiley faces.

White Lies – Stylus – Wednesday the 30th

James Fifteen year old me would not have turned down the opportunity to see White Lies and he did not. 20 year old me I think will… Still some absolutely great tunes there that are 100% worth seeing at least once.

Eloise This sultry three piece are sure to put up a big show. As long as they play Farewell to the Fairgound I’ll be happy.

Tourist – The Wardrobe – Wednesday the 30th

Eloise They teamed up with Lianne La Havas and worked with Sam Smith, need I say more?

James I didn’t know who tourist were and now I’ve listened to them I understand why. They’re too cool for me. It’s the sort of music that your cool, edgy friend plays at low key pre-drinks. #goodvibes

Allusondrugs – The Key Club – Friday the 2nd

Eloise A home gig for anyone looking for a sweaty Friday night.

James I have a real soft spot in my heart for Allusondrugs. They’ve really worked their way up to something

Frightened Rabbit – Stylus – Friday the 2nd

James I love frightened rabbit. I loved them when I first discovered them when I was around 14 and songs about low-self esteem went straight over my head. Now I understand those same songs and wonder why I love them so much. If you see me on Friday night crying don’t worry. It’s all ok. I just have something in my eye.

Eloise Live and Local’s* favourite Scots. Sure to be an emotional night. *James’s favourite Scots

With thanks to the Leeds Gig Guide for making this easy, as ever
